 Father's Day is Sunday, June 18th, or the third Sunday of June. The nation's first Father's Day was celebrated on
June 19, 1910, in Spokane, Washington with the help of Sonora Smart Dodd. At the first Father's Day celebration, young women handed out red roses to their fathers during a church service, and large baskets full of roses were passed around, with attendees encouraged to pin on a rose in honor of their fathers - red for the living and white in memory of the deceased.But it was not until 1972 that President Richard Nixon made Father's Day a national holiday. This was 58 years after President Woodrow Wilson made Mother's Day official.
 There are more than 70 million fathers in the United States. And what presents might you want to consider giving this year? Aside from the usual tie, bottle of wine or camera there are many other choices. There are a lot "of the month" clubs for Dads, such as beer of the month, hot sauce of the month or chocolate of the month club. But consider a lunch or dinner boat cruise if you happen to live near water, one of the latest smart phones or a Fitbit, sports memorabilia or family photos. Or how about a ride in a red Ferrari?
