 June gives us a special day to celebrate our fathers, Sunday, June 16th, and father figures. We celebrate the men in our lives and the parental bonds between fathers and their children. Father's Day was founded in Spokane, Washington, in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd. It was made into a permanent national holiday when President Richard Nixon signed it into law in 1972.
