treat your taste buds in the twin-cities

by Rob Lobitz

corn dogsIf you want to sample incredible original and varied cuisine a visit to the ‘twin-cities’ is a must. Most people don’t immediately picture Minneapolis or St. Paul when they think of a place to visit for the food experience. However, when you think of the fact that the twin-cities boast the invention of the corn-dog and the Pronto Pup, and that Betty Crocker was ‘born’ there you begin to realize how important food is to the area.

Minneapolis and St. Paul hosts a large population of immigrants that all enjoy their own cuisine and have contributed to the foods of the area. African immigrants from Ethiopia and Somalia have many restaurants in the area and many offer restaurant delivery service. Somalia cuisine has influences from Indian, Ethiopian, Yemeni, Persian, Turkish, Somali and Italian dishes, making for delicious tasty dishes.

Mediterranean and Middle Eastern immigrants offer authentic food influences from Arabia, Iran, Kurdish and Turkey. All have restaurants for their particular cuisines, and again, many offer restaurant delivery service.

Another large influence comes from Mexico, including authentic Mexican cuisine and Tex-Mex dining pleasures. South Americans also have a large presence in the Twin-Cities, boasting Brazilian, Argentinean, Ecuadorian, Cuban, and Peruvian restaurants.

Europeans also have many restaurants in the area that include delicious German, Scandinavian, Polish, Ukrainian and Czechoslovakian cuisine. Other treats available include the well-known Greek gyro and Greek cuisine, many Jewish delicatessens and Lebanese restaurants.

Of course there are many outstanding restaurants that offer standard American cuisine, if that is your desire.

When visiting the Minneapolis area, whether for business or pleasure, be sure to try some of the delicious cuisines offered by other cultures. If you find yourself in the hotel room at the end of a busy day, too tired to go out, use a Minneapolis restaurant delivery service to bring you a tasty dish from Ethiopia, Germany or Peru. Enjoy the diversification of this magnificent area.
